Doug & Lil's Potato Patch Reviews
Good was so scrumptious today, I had a wonderful crab omelette! The grits were marvelous and the hollandaise sauce was superb!
Loooove this place! It's always a great meal with quality and quantity in mind. It is a classic diner style restaurant with friendly staff, yummy food, and great prices. Make sure you have cash or a check to pay for your meals since it doesn't take cards. My sons love the big biscuits and gravy as well as the corned beef hash. I always get the one egg plate with awesome home fries! My husband loves the pancakes. You can't go wrong with a big jar of super sweet tea too!
Quaint, old-school, locally owned, mom-n-pop restaurant for a quick breakfast, lunch, or brunch. My wife order the club (which is a triple decker sandwich with bacon, turkey, ham, Swiss and American cheese, tomato, lettuce, and mayo) with sweet potatoes fries. She ate every bite! I ordered the western omelet with hash-brown and a biscuit with a side of sausage gravy. I don't believe the "pit smoked ham" is what's actually used as it tasted more like the typical cubed salad ham. Everything else was obviously made from scratch and tasted delicious, not greasy, and came to the table Fast. The gravy tasted like my mom used to make!
In DeLand and had to come back. We were able to sit down right away. Decided to try something new. Potato pancakes with sour cream and apple sauce. Used the sour cream on them. Side was sausage links. Candyce had bacon cheese omelet. Service is great.... food good and fast. Make sure you bring cash, do not take credit cards.
Found this breakfast place on our way to a event in the deland area. Busy but a good sign. Ordered my usual breakfast. 2 eggs scrambled, bacon, grits, and biscuit. Food was good waitress was wonderful. Prices appropriate. Stays busy because they have repeat customers and it was good. Support your local business.
Breakfast on a Sunday morning after church was very filling and a nice experience. We got there before the rush and were seated right away. Had to try the pancakes after reading a previous review. I got the hash and eggs which gave me the option of toast, biscuit or pancake. Best of both worlds for me. The pancake was very good along with everything else. My husband ordered the ribeye and eggs. He was pleasantly surprised at the cut of meat. It was tender, no griddle and cooked just right.
The black-and-white gingham curtains framing the windows are inviting, and locals and tourists alike will appreciate this place. Interior is cozy, and the table service is attentive. A patron could sit at a table outside but it's essentially the parking lot. Be aware: this is a cash-only establishment. I sipped on a smooth coffee while the hubby dined on country ham with red-eye gravy, eggs, golden hash browns and a side of biscuits and gravy. He found all of it satisfying except the ham, which was a bit dry (gravy helped there). We sat next to a regular who eats breakfast there five mornings a week. If that's not a testimony, I don't know what is!
This was a great surprise. Never judge a book by its cover. We ended up at this place by chance as our original choice for breakfast was on a 4 hour wait. Now let's get the important stuff out of the way. They only take cash or check so make an ATM run before coming. Also parking is not the best so beware as they seem to be packed all of the time. Our wait wasn't too bad thankfully. Once seated we had our drink orders taken and was given time to look at the menu. Get the sweet tea! They definitely make it correctly here although my son said it was too sweet. I decided on one of the breakfast combos that came with 2 eggs, grits, ham and the best freaking pancake! I'm planning on returning just for pancakes. They are homemade with buttermilk and taste like nothing I've had from any other place. Bring your patience as it may take a bit to get your final bill where you will pay at the register. Everyone was super friendly and you can tell the regulars in town love to come here.
Ok.. where to stars? Honestly this place wasn't on my radar! My friends and I were planning breakfast at another place but the wait was 4 hours!! We looked through yelp and as usual, we weren't disappointed by the options. Doug & Lil's Potato Patch was a pleasant surprise.. everything from the wait (barely waited 10 mins) to the service and the food was perfect. I ordered 2 fried eggs, ham, and a pancake. Everything was good. The eggs were good, the ham was moist and the grits was yummy! The pancake... it stole the show. It was so delicious that I asked our waitress what the secret ingredient was. She told me buttermilk and they make their own batter. I also ordered a sweet tea with the intention of adding milk but I gotta tell you, their tea is really good and didn't need the milk. My experience was amazing and everything exceeded my expectations. Loved everything about this restaurant. One thing I have to point out : they only accept checks and cash so make sure you have either.
